Supporter spotlight: Kirsty takes on the London Marathon for Contact

We are incredibly proud of our supporter Kirsty, who recently took on the London Marathon in support of Contact and raised an amazing £1,110 for our work with vulnerable young women.

Kirsty’s marathon challenge is just one part of a very busy life. She is a 41-year-old mum of two boys aged 7 and 1, a solicitor and currently studying for exams - all while training for running events! Born and bred in Heywood, Manchester, and a proud Manchester United fan, Kirsty described herself as “not actually much good at running” but that she likes a challenge!

Kirsty is continuing that momentum by signing up for the Great Manchester Run at the end of May, where she will be taking part alongside colleagues from her workplace, SAS Daniels, who are supporting Contact Hostel as their chosen charity this year.

Kirsty’s connection to Contact came through a truly special link - our former resident Shanae, who stayed at Contact as a teenager, is Kirsty’s colleague and put forward our charity for workplace fundraising. That recommendation has now helped spark an inspiring partnership and a brilliant fundraising effort.

Reflecting on why she chose to support Contact, Kirsty said:

“I think what Contact Hostel provides is so important as with opportunity, support and encouragement someone’s life can be completely transformed. We all need a little help sometimes.”

She also shared her appreciation for the support she received along the way, adding: “Thank you and thank you once again for your amazing support, you’re doing such wonderful work.”

We are hugely grateful to Kirsty, SAS Daniels and Shanae for helping to raise both vital funds and awareness of our work - and we wish the team all the very best of luck for the Great Manchester Run!
